(4) (a) To set up institutions or centres for promoting studies and researeh in Indian History and
Culture with special reference to ancient Präkrit texts. (b) To set up Libraries and Museums for Prākrit manuscripts, paintings, coins, archaeological
finds and other material of historical and cultural importance. (5) To preserve manuscripts discovered or available in various Bhandars throughout India, by
modern scientific means, inter alia photostat, microfilming, photography, lamination and other
latest scientific methods. (6) To manage or enter into any other working arrangments with other Societies having any of
their objects similar or allied to any of the objccts of the Society. (7) To undertake such activities as are incidental and conducive, directly or indirectly, to and in
furtherance of any of the above objects. From its inception the Prakrit Text Society was fortunate to receive the active support of His Excellency Dr. Rajendra Prasad, President, Republic of India, who very kindly consented to become its Chief Patron and also one of the six Founder Members
The Prakrit Text Society has plainly taken inspiration from the Pali Text Society of London as regards its publication programme, of which the plan is as follows: I Agamic Literature

Grammar, Lexicography, Metrics, Rhetorics, Astronomy, Mathematics, Arts and other Sciences.
The Society has already published Angavijjā and Präkrita-Pairigalar (Part I) in its Prakrit Text Series. And now an important Classical Prakrit literary work is presented before scholars. It is Cauppannamabapurisacariyam written by Silānkācārya. It is for the first time critically edited by Pandit
Other Founder Members are--Shri Muni Punyavijayji, Acharya Vijayendra Suri, V. S. Agrawala, Shri Jainendra Kumar and Shri Fatechand Belaney.
• Shri Belaney acted as Society's Secretary from the beginning upto May 1957 and displayed great organising ability in founding the Society.
