Gemination. It relates to the intervocalic stops which otherwise are elided in Middle Indo-Aryan. It appears in पंडित्त (=पंडित) 20e, मणमत्थ ( = मन्मथ) 83a, तत्तक्खणे ( =तत्क्षणेत्य 82a, पडिल्लिय (cf. पडिलिउ 106d) 162d, तिलक्किवि (from तिलक =तिलक) 168a, अलिक्कय ( =अलीक enlarged) 211a, Pk. सयलज्ज ( =सइ० =शैलजा) 40a.
Four novel cases based on assimilation are पंडित्त (= पाण्डित्य) 19a, णित्तु ( =नित्यम्) 202d (beside णिच्चु 115d), खंभाइत्त (= स्कंभादित्य) 65d, 67b and रत्थ (-रथ्या) 218) (beside रच्छ 167b, 175b).
III MORPHOLOGY STEM-FORMATION : AFFIXES i. The verbal determinative e signifying momentary and rapid action in a general way is represented in a few words : चमक्कउ SRED झलक्क (from ज्वल्) in झलक्किउd, etc., थक्किय (from स्था) 142c, तडक्क 148c, चच्चंकिवि (from चर्च् ?) 188b.
ii. The suffix °F forms adjectives in the sense of the present participle. We have उक्कंखिर 26a, 94a, आकंखिरिय 134a, कंखिरि 133a etc. (thrice), लज्जिर 28a etc. (four times), परिघोलिर 46a, मल्हिरय 50b, विओइरिय 118a, पहल्लिर 133d; भज्जिरिय 98c, परिखिल्लिरी 219c (see 8 22). Possibly सगग्गिर 29,66, 136
___iii. Action nouns in °अ (or 'अय). चमक्कय 52b, उज्जग्गय 105c, गम 113a, अत्थम 113b, “कुट्ट 173d, चल्ल (f.) 45d, भीड (f.) 62d.
iv. 'अण forming agent (and action) nouns appears casually. पवित्थरण 19b, दहण 131d, जणण 136a, णिन्नासण 158d, f. पट्टणिय 45d.
v. A fresh mode of forming agentives with the addition of op ( ="कर) has made its appearance : दीवयर 22b, संजीवयर 22d, उल्हावयर 67c. These when enlarged become the precursors of the Hindi agentives
