शोकवानपि चित्तेन बहिधयंमुपाश्रितः । अभ्युत्थायार्चितस्तस्या न्यषीदन्निकटासने ॥४१॥ सा तं पितृसमं दृष्ट्वा रुरोदोन्मुक्तकण्ठकम् । सजनोपनिधौ शोकः पुराणोऽपि नवायते ॥८२॥ तस्याः शोकसमुद्रं स प्रक्षिपन्निव दक्षिणः । आह्लादयन्मनोऽवादीदिति नारदसंमुनिः ॥८३॥ त्यज रुक्मिणि ! शोक वं क्वचिज्जीवति ते 'सुतः । कथंचिदपि नीतोऽपि केनचित्पूर्ववैरिणा ॥८॥ दीर्घजीवितसद्भावं ननु तस्य महात्मनः । निवेदयति संभूतिर्वासुदेवात् त्वयि ध्रुवम् ॥८५॥ संयोगाश्च वियोगाश्च प्राणिनां प्राणवत्सले । वरसे भवन्ति संसारे सुखदुःखविधायिनः ॥८६॥ तत्र कर्मवशज्ञानां ज्ञानोन्मीलितधीदृशाम् । प्रभवन्ति न ते वसे यदूनामिव शत्रवः ॥८७॥ जिनशासनतत्त्वज्ञा संसृतिस्थितिवेदिनी । मा भूः शोकवशा वातां त्वत्सुतस्य लभे लघु ॥८८॥ इति तां नारदस्तन्वीमनुशिष्य वचोऽमतः । प्रयातो वियदुत्पत्य सीमन्धरजिनान्तिकम् ॥८९।। 'विषये पुष्कलावत्या नृसुरासुरसेवितम् । नगर्या पुण्डरीकिण्यामहन्तं स तमैक्षत ॥१०॥ कृताञ्जलिपुटस्तोत्रपवित्रीकृतवाग्मुखः । प्रणम्य जिनमासीनः स नरेन्द्र समान्तरे ॥११॥ तत्र पद्मरथश्चक्री पञ्चचापशतोच्छितिः । दशचापोच्छतिं पश्यन्नारदं नरशंसितम् ॥१२॥ कौतुकास्करपद्माभ्यामास्थायापृच्छदीश्वरम् । माकृतिरयं नाथ ! कीटः किमभिधानकः ॥१३॥ ततः प्राह जिनस्तत्त्वं जम्बूद्वीपस्य भारते । नारदो वासुदेवस्य नवमस्य हितोद्यतः ॥१४॥
वहाँ शोकरूपी तुषारसे जले हुए रुक्मिणीके मुख-कमलको देख स्वयं हृदयसे शोक करने लगे परन्तु बाह्यमें धैर्यको धारण किये रहे। रुक्मिणीने उठकर उनका सत्कार किया। अनन्तर वे उसीके निकट आसनपर बैठ गये ॥८०-८१॥ रुक्मिणी पिताके तुल्य नारदको देखकर गला फाड़-फाड़कर रोने लगी सो ठीक ही है क्योंकि सज्जनोंके समीप पुराना शोक भी नवीनके समान हो जाता है ।। ८२।। अत्यन्त चतुर नारदमुनि, उसके शोक-सागरको हलका करनेके लिए ही मानो मनको आनन्दित करते हुए इस प्रकार वचन बोले ॥८३॥
हे रुक्मिणी ! तू शोक छोड़, तेरा पुत्र कहीं जीवित है भले ही उसे पूर्वभवका कोई वैरी किसी तरह हरकर ले गया है। श्रीकृष्णसे तुझमें जो उसकी उत्पत्ति हुई है यही उस महात्माके दीर्घायुष्यको सूचित कर रही है ।।८४-८५॥ हे प्रिय पुत्री! तू जानती है कि इस संसारमें प्राणियोंको सुख-दुःख उत्पन्न करनेवाले संयोग और वियोग होते ही रहते हैं ।।८६|| परन्तु जो कर्मों की अधीनताको जाननेवाले हैं एवं ज्ञानके द्वारा उन्मीलित बुद्धिरूपो नेत्रोंको धारण करनेवाले हैं ऐसे यादवोंके ऊपर वे संयोग और वियोग शत्रुओंके समान अपना प्रभाव नहीं जमा सकते हैं ॥८७|| तू तो जिन-शासनके तत्त्वको जाननेवाली एवं संसारको स्थितिकी जानकार है अतः शोकके वशीभूत मत हो। मैं शीघ्र ही तेरे पुत्रका समाचार लाता हूँ ॥८८॥ इस प्रकार वचनरूपी अमृतसे उस कृशांगीको समझाकर नारदमुनि आकाशमें उड़ सीमन्धर भगवान् के समीप जा पहुंचे ॥८९॥ वहाँ पुष्कलावती देशकी पुण्डरीकिणी नगरीमें मनुष्य, सुर और असुरोंसे सेवित सीमन्धर जिनेन्द्रके उन्होंने दर्शन किये ॥९०॥ हाथ जोड़ मुखसे पवित्र स्तोत्रका उच्चारण कर उन्होंने जिनेन्द्र भगवान्को नमस्कार किया और उसके बाद वे राजाओंकी सभामें जा बैठे ॥९१।।
वहाँ उस समय पांच सौ धनुषकी ऊंचाईवाला पद्मरथ चक्रवर्ती बैठा था। दश धनुष ऊँचे नर-प्रशंसित नारदको देखते ही उसने उन्हें कौतुकवश अपने हस्त-कमलोंसे उठाकर भगवान्से पूछा कि हे नाथ! यह मनुष्यके आकारका कीड़ा कौन-सा है ? और इसका क्या नाम है? ॥९२-९३।। तदनन्तर सीमन्धर भगवान्ने सब रहस्य कहा । उन्होंने बताया कि यह जम्बूद्वीपके , भरत क्षेत्रके नौवें नारायणके हितमें उद्यत रहनेवाला नारद है ।। ९४ ।।

He rose and honored her, then sat down near her. ||41|| Seeing him, who was like her father, Rukmini cried out, her voice choked with sorrow. In the presence of the virtuous, even old grief feels new. ||82|| As if to calm the ocean of her sorrow, the wise Narada, with a cheerful heart, spoke to her. ||83|| "Rukmini, abandon your grief! Your son lives somewhere. Perhaps he was taken away by some enemy from a previous life. ||84|| The very fact that he was born to you, a devotee of Vasudeva, indicates the long life of that great soul. ||85|| In this world, dear child, unions and separations are inevitable for all beings, bringing happiness and sorrow. ||86|| But for those who understand the power of karma and have their eyes opened by knowledge, these unions and separations do not have the power of enemies, as they do for the Yadavas. ||87|| You, who know the truth of the Jina's teachings and the nature of the world, should not be overcome by grief. I will soon bring news of your son. ||88|| Having thus consoled the slender Rukmini with these words of nectar, Narada flew up into the sky and went to the presence of the Jina, Simandhar. ||89|| There, in the city of Pundarika, in the land of Pushkalavati, he saw Simandhar, the Jina, worshipped by men, gods, and demons. ||90|| With folded hands and uttering a pure hymn of praise, he bowed to the Jina and then sat down among the kings. ||91|| At that time, the Chakravarti, Padma-ratha, was seated there, his chariot rising to a height of five hundred bows. Seeing Narada, who was praised by men and stood ten bows tall, he was curious and, lifting him up with his lotus-like hands, asked the Lord, "O Master, what is this creature, shaped like a man, and what is his name?" ||92-93|| Then Simandhar, the Jina, revealed the truth. He said, "This is Narada, who is devoted to the welfare of the ninth Narayana, in the land of Bharat, on the Jambudvipa." ||94||
