हरिवंशपुराणे प्रणयसहितमिस्थं प्रश्नितः प्राह कृष्णः प्रहसितमुखपनं पद्ममालोक्य वाक्यम् । शृणु वचनमिहार्य त्वं मदीयं प्रसिद्धं स्फुटवदनविकाराल्लक्षितं चित्तदुःखम् ॥२०॥ श्रुतगुरुरसि विद्वान् वेत्सि लोकानुवृत्तिं त्वमुपदिशसि मार्ग चार्यवयं पुरस्य । तदिह मण सुपूज्यां युज्यते मे यशोदामतिपरुषवचोभिस्ते तिरस्कर्तमद्य ॥२१॥ इति सुविहितमन्यु गङ्गदत्तं गदन्तं हृषिततनुरुहोऽसौ गाढमाश्लिष्य दोाम् । अवददविरलाश्रुपातसंसूचितान्तःकरणविशदवृत्तिः सर्ववृत्तान्तमस्मै ॥२२॥ मुनिवचनमवन्ध्यं तजरासन्धजायाः पटुमदवशवृत्तेहँ तुतो वृत्तमादौ । निधनमपि च षण्णां देवकीगर्भजानां क्षुमितहृदयकंसापादितं कोपहेतुम् ॥२३॥ प्रसवसमयतोऽर्वाग्गोकुले लीनवृत्ति रिपुविहितमनेकापायमप्यत्र बाल्यात् । प्रभृति सकलमग्रे मल्लसंग्राममुग्रं विरचितमवधार्य द्विड्वधेऽधत्त चित्तम् ॥२४॥ हरिरिति हरिवंशं रौहिणेयादशेषं पितृजनगुरुबन्धुं भ्रातृवर्ग विदित्वा । प्रेमदमुरुमुवाह श्रीमुखाम्भोजलक्ष्मी हरिरिव गुरुभूभृद्भरिरक्षासनाथः ॥२५॥ हितसहजतयोत्थस्नेहसंपृक्तमावौ सुसरिति यमुनायां तौ महामीनलीलौ ।
जलविहरणदक्षौ स्नानमासेव्यसेव्यौ निजसदनमगातामन्वितौ गोपवर्गः ॥२६॥ मख किसी भारी मानसिक सन्तापको प्रकट कर रहा है सो उसका कारण कहो ॥१९।। इस प्रकार प्रेमसहित पूछे हुए कृष्णने, प्रसन्न मुख कमलसे युक्त बलभद्रकी ओर देखकर यह वचन कहे कि हे आर्य ! मेरे वचन सुनिए। मेरे मुखपर प्रकट हुए विकारसे मेरा मानसिक दुःख प्रकट हो रहा है, यह ठीक है। आप शास्त्रज्ञानसे श्रेष्ठ विद्वान् हैं, लोककी रीतिको जानते हैं और हे पूज्य ! आप नगरवासी लोगोंको श्रेष्ठ उपदेश देते हैं फिर यह तो बताइए कि आज आपको हमारी पूज्य माता यशोदाका अत्यन्त कठोर वचनोंसे तिरस्कार करना क्या उचित था? ॥२०॥ इस प्रकारके वचनों द्वारा शोक प्रकट करते हुए कृष्णका बलभद्रने दोनों भुजाओंसे गाढ़ आलिंगन कर लिया। हर्षसे उनका शरीर रोमांचित हो गया। तदनन्तर अविरल अश्रुधारासे हृदयकी स्वच्छ दृत्तिको सूचित करते हुए उन्होंने कृष्णके लिए सब वृत्तान्त कह सुनाया ।।२१।। उन्होंने सबसे पहले तीव्र अहंकारको वशीभूत जरासन्धकी पुत्री कंसकी स्त्री जीवद्यशाके लिए अतिमुक्तक मुनिने जो अवन्ध्य-सत्य वचन कहे थे वे सुनाये। तदनन्तर क्षुभितहृदय कंसने देवकीके गर्भसे उत्पन्न हुए छह पुत्रोंको अपनी जानमें मार डाला यह क्रोधवर्धक समाचार सुनाया। फिर, तुम प्रसवके समयसे पहले ही उत्पन्न हुए थे और उत्पन्न होते ही तुम्हें हम गोकुलमें छिपाकर यशोदाके यहां रख गये थे यह कहा। तदनन्तर बाल्यकालसे ही लेकर शत्रुने मारनेके जो नाना साधन जुटाये उनका निरूपण किया। अन्तमें यह बताया कि इस समय कंस भयंकर मल्लयुद्धका निश्चय कर तुम्हारे मारनेमें चित्त लगा रहा है ।।२२-२४।। इस प्रकार ज्योंही कृष्णने बड़े भाई बलभद्रसे समस्त हरिवंश, पिता, गुरु, बन्धु तथा भाइयोंका हाल जाना त्योंही वे आनन्दसे अत्यधिक मुख-कमलकी शोभाको धारण करने लगे-हर्षातिरेकसे उनके मुख-कमलकी लक्ष्मी खिल उठी। और वे बड़े भाईरूपी पर्वतसे प्राप्त अत्यधिक रक्षासे युक्त हो सिंहके समान सुशोभित होने लगे ॥२५॥
तदनन्तर जन्मजात हितबुद्धिसे उत्पन्न स्नेहसे जिनके अन्तःकरण परस्पर मिल रहे थे, जो महामच्छोंकी लीला धारण कर रहे थे एवं जलक्रीड़ामें जो अत्यन्त चतुर थे ऐसे दोनों भाइयोंने यमुना नदीमें स्नान किया। तत्पश्चात् गोप समूहसे सेवनीय दोनों भाई उन्हीं गोपोंके १. बलम् । २. विष्णुं कृष्णमित्यर्थः । ३. बलात् । ४. प्रमदपुरु-म.। ५. लक्ष्मीहरिरिव म. ।
