हरिवंशपुराणे अल्पप्रमाणपरमाणुसमूहराशिरासंचितः 'स्वपरिणामवशादसारः। कालप्रमानजवावनिपातमात्रादायुधनः प्रलयमत्र लघु प्रयाति ॥३३॥ वज्रास्मसंहननसंहतसंधिबन्धः सत्सन्निवेशनवरम्यशरीरमेघः । "मोधीभवत्यसुभृतामसमर्थ एष वायुप्रकोपभरमग्नसमस्तगात्रः ॥३४॥ सौभाग्यरूपनवयौवनभूषणस्य भूलोकचित्तनयनामृतवर्षणस्य । देहाम्बुदस्य दिनकृत्प्रतिघातिनी स्याच्छायावयःपरिणतिद्रुतवात्ययाऽस्य ॥३५॥ शौर्यप्रमावसुवशीकृतसागरान्तभूराजसिंहचिररक्षितभूमिमागाः । सौराज्यभोगगिरयोऽपि विशीर्णशृङ्गाश्चूर्णीमवन्ति समयान्तरवज्रघातैः ॥३६॥ नेत्रं मनश्च भवदत्र कलत्रमिष्टं प्राणैः समं समसुखासुख मित्रपुत्रम् । व्येतीह पत्रमिव शुष्कमदृष्टवातादेवोऽप्युपैति हि भवे प्रियविप्रयोगम् ॥३७॥ पश्यन्नपि क्षणवि माजामङ्गादिकं स्वयममृत्युभयोऽयमगी। मोहान्धकारपिहितागमदृष्टिरिष्टं मार्ग विहाय विषयामिषगर्तमेति ॥३८॥ प्रत्यङ्गमङ्गजमतङ्गजसंगताङ्गः स्वाङ्गः स्पृशन् प्रियवधजनगात्रयष्टीः। धिक स्पर्शसौख्यविनिमीलितनेत्रभागो मातङ्गवद विषमबन्धमियर्ति मर्त्यः ॥३९॥ आहारमिष्टमिह पसभेदभिन्नमाहारयन् बहुविधं स्पृहयापदृष्टिः।
जिह्वावशो दलितशङ्कविलग्नांसपेशीप्रियश्चपलमीन इवैति बन्धम् यह शीघ्र विलीन हो गया है ॥३२॥ अपने-अपने परिणामोंके अनुसार संचित, अल्प प्रमाण परमाणुओंका राशिस्वरूप यह आयुरूप मेघ निःसार है इसीलिए तो मृत्युरूपी प्रचण्ड वायुके वेगका आघात लगते ही शीघ्र ही नष्ट हो जाता है ॥३३॥ वज्ररूपी सन्धियोंके बन्धनसे युक्त यह प्राणियोंका उत्तम रचनासे सुशोभित नूतन एवं सुन्दर शरीररूपी मेघ, मृत्युरूपी पवनके प्रबल आघातसे क्षत-विक्षत हो असमर्थ होता हुआ विफल हो जाता है ॥३४॥ सौभाग्य, रूप और नवयौवन ही जिसका आभूषण है तथा जो पृथिवीके समस्त मनुष्योंके चित्त और नेत्रोंके लिए अमृतकी वर्षा करता है ऐसे इस शरीररूपी मेघको छाया, वृद्धावस्थारूपी तीव्र आंधीसे सूर्यको आच्छादित करनेवाली हो जाती है-नष्ट-भ्रष्ट हो जाती है ॥३५॥ शौयं और प्रभावके द्वारा सागरान्त पृथिवीको अच्छी तरह वश करनेवाले बड़े-बड़े राजाओंके द्वारा जिनमें भूमि-भागोंकी चिर रक्षा की गयी है ऐसे उत्तम राज्यके भोगरूपी पर्वतोंके शिखर भी कालरूपी प्रचण्ड वज्रके आघातसे चूर-चूर हो जाते हैं ॥३६।। नेत्र और मनरूप होती हुई नेत्र और मनके समान प्यारी स्त्री तथा प्राणों के समान सख-दःखके साथी मित्र और पत्र इस संसारमें अदष्टरूपी वायसे प्रेरित हो सूखे पत्तेके समान नष्ट होते रहते हैं। मनुष्यकी तो बात ही क्या है देव भी इस संसारमें प्रियजनोंके वियोगको प्राप्त होता है ॥३७॥ अहो ! यह प्राणी, अन्य प्राणियोंके शरीर आदिको क्षणभंगुर देखता हुआ भी स्वयं मृत्यु के भयसे रहित है तथा इसकी शास्त्ररूपी दृष्टि मोहरूपी अन्धकारसे आच्छादित हो गयी है इसलिए यह इष्ट मार्गको छोड़कर विषयरूपी आमिषके गर्त में , पड़ रहा है ।।३८|| जिसका प्रत्येक अंग कामरूपो मत्त हाथीसे संगत है ऐसा यह मनुष्य अपने अवयवोंसे प्रिय स्त्रियोंके शरीरका स्पर्श करता हुआ उनके स्पर्शजन्य सुखसे निमीलित नेत्र हो मत्त-मातंगके समान विषय बन्धको प्राप्त होता है इसलिए इस स्पर्शजन्य सुखके लिए धिक्कार है ॥३९॥ जिसकी विवेक दृष्टि नष्ट हो गयी है ऐसा यह मनुष्य जिह्वा इन्द्रियके वशीभूत हो १. सपरिणाम- म., क. ख.। २. आयुरेव धनः। ३. शोघ्रम् । ४. बन्ध -म.। ५ वनरम्य म., ख.। ६. मेघीभव-म.।

This mortal, whose every limb is connected with the intoxicated elephant-like senses, touches the bodies of the beloved women, and being deprived of the joy of touch, suffers the painful bondage like the intoxicated elephant. ||39||
Driven by the tongue, he consumes various desirable foods, divided by the difference of taste, and like the fickle fish, he gets bound. ||32||
