हरिवंशपुराणे विह्वलान्तःपुरस्त्रीमिः कृतमूर्छाप्रतिक्रियः । हा प्रभावति ! यातासि क्वेत्यवादीत्प्रबुद्धवान् ॥११॥ जये जातिस्मरे जाते तत्प्रियापि सुलोचना । प्रासादवलभौ क्रीडत्पारावतयुगेक्षणात् ॥१२॥ भूत्वा जातिस्मरा मूछा गरवा प्राप्य प्रतिक्रियाम् । हिरण्यवर्मणो नाम गृह्नतीव समुत्थिता॥ १३॥ हिरण्यवर्मपूर्वोऽहमित्युवाच जयः प्रियाम् । साह प्रभावतीत्याह प्रहृष्टा तं सुलोचना ॥१४॥ विद्याधरमवं पूर्वमभिज्ञानरुभावपि । परस्परस्य संवाद्यं स्पष्टं विदधतुः प्रियौ ॥१५॥ ततोऽन्तःपुरलोकस्य कौतुकव्याप्तचेतसः। किमेतदिति जिज्ञासाज्ञापनार्थं जयोक्तया ॥१६॥ सुखदुःखरसोन्मिश्रमवियोगसुखान्वितम् । द्वयोश्चरितमाख्यातं चतुर्भवमयं तया ॥१७॥ उहिण्टिकारिसंबन्धं सकान्तरतिवेगयोः । दम्पत्योर्दग्धयोस्तेन मरणं करुणावहम् ॥१८॥ मार्जारेण सता तेन स्वपारावतजन्मनि । मक्षणे दुःखमरणं स्वं जगाद सुलोचना ॥१९॥ साधुदानानुमोदेन प्रमावत्या प्रभावितः । हिरण्यवर्मणो भोगं महाविद्याधरश्रियः ॥२०॥ स्वपूर्ववैरिणा दाहं तयोः सह तपस्थयोः । आद्यकल्पसमुत्पत्तिं संक्लेशपरिणामतः ॥२१॥ क्रीडार्थमागतस्यास्य क्षमा देवमिथुनस्य च । वैरिणो नरकोत्थस्य भीमसाधोश्च मर्षणम् ॥२२॥ स्वर्गच्यवनपर्यन्तं दम्पत्योश्चरितं यथा। दृष्टश्रुतानुभूतार्थ सविस्तरमुदीरितम् ॥२३॥
गया॥१०॥ घबड़ायी हुई अन्तःपुरकी स्त्रियोंने उसकी मूछ का उपचार किया जिससे सचेत होकर वह कहने लगा कि 'हाय ! प्रभावति ! तू कहाँ गयो ? ॥११॥ उधर विद्याधर और विद्याधरीको देखकर जयकुमारको जातिस्मरण हुआ और इधर महलके छज्जेपर क्रीड़ा करते हुए कबूतर और कबूतरीका युगल देखनेसे सुलोचनाको भी जातिस्मरण हो गया जिससे वह भी मूच्छित हो गयी। पश्चात् मूर्छाका उपचार प्राप्त कर सुलोचना हिरण्यवर्माका नाम लेती हुई उठी ।।१२-१३।। प्रियाके मुखसे हिरण्यवर्माका नाम सुनकर जयकुमारने उससे कहा कि पहले मैं ही हिरण्यवर्मा था। इसके उत्तरमें सुलोचनाने भी प्रसन्न होती हुई कहा कि वह प्रभावती मैं ही हूँ ॥१४॥ इस प्रकार पतिपत्नी दोनोंने अनेक चिह्नोंसे हम पहले विद्याधर थे, इसका स्पष्ट निर्णय कर लिया ॥१५॥
तदनन्तर जिसका चित्त कौतुकसे व्याप्त हो रहा था ऐसे अन्तःपुरके समस्त लोगोंकी 'यह क्या है' इस जिज्ञासाको दूर करनेके लिए जयकुमारकी प्रेरणा पाकर सुलोचनाने दोनोंके पिछले चार भवोंसे सम्बन्ध रखनेवाला चरित कहना शुरू किया। उनका वह चरित सुख और दुःखरूपी रससे मिला हुआ था तथा संयोग सम्बन्धी सुखसे सहित था ।।१६-१७॥ उसने बताया कि सुकान्त और रतिवेगा नामक दम्पतिके साथ उट्टिटिकारिका क्या सम्बन्ध था तथा किस प्रकार उसने उक्त दोनों दम्पतियोंको जलाकर उनका करुणापूर्ण मरण किया था। उट्टिटिकारि मरकर बिलाव हुआ और सुकान्त तथा रतिवेगा मरकर कबूतर-कबूतरी हुए तो उट्टिटिकारिने कबूतर-कबूतरीका भक्षण किया। जिससे उन्हें मरते समय बड़ा दुःख उठाना पड़ा ॥१८-१९।। मुनिदानकी अनुमोदनासे कबूतरीका जीव प्रभावती नामकी विद्याधरी हई और कबूतरका जीव हिरण्यवर्मा नामका विद्याधर हुआ तथा दोनों ही विद्याधरोंकी लक्ष्मीका उपभोग करते रहे। कदाचित् हिरण्यवर्मा
और प्रभावती वनमें तपस्या करते थे, उसी समय अपने पूर्व भवके वैरी-मार्जारके जीव ( विद्युद्वेग नामक चोर) ने उन्हें अग्निमें जला दिया। संक्लिष्ट परिणामोंके कारण हिरण्यवर्मा और प्रभावती मरकर प्रथम स्वर्गमें देव-देवी हुए और विद्युद्वेग चोरका जीव मरकर नरक गया। किसी समय उक्त देव-देवियोंका युगल क्रोड़ाके लिए पृथिवीपर आया था और विद्युद्वेगका जीव नरकसे निकलकर भीम नामका साधु हुआ था। सो कारण पाकर तीनों जीवोंने परस्पर क्षमा

Sulochana, delighted, replied, "I am Pravahati." ||14|| Thus, the couple, through various signs, clearly established that they were Vidhyadharas in their previous lives. ||15|| Then, to satisfy the curiosity of the people of the inner palace, who were filled with wonder, Jayakumar urged Sulochana to tell the story of their past four lives. ||16|| She narrated their story, filled with the flavors of joy and sorrow, and interwoven with the happiness of reunion. ||17|| She told how Uttatikari was related to the couple Sukanta and Rativega, and how she had burned them both, causing their tragic death. ||18|| Uttatikari, upon dying, became a cat, while Sukanta and Rativega became pigeons. Uttatikari then devoured the pigeons, causing them great suffering as they died. ||19|| Through the blessings of the sage's gift, the pigeon's soul became the Vidhyadhari named Pravahati, and the pigeon's soul became the Vidhyadhara named Hiranyavarma. Both enjoyed the wealth of the Vidhyadharas. ||20|| Perhaps, while Hiranyavarma and Pravahati were performing austerities in the forest, their former enemy, the cat, in the form of the thief Vidyu dvega, burned them in a fire. ||21|| Due to the consequences of their karma, Hiranyavarma and Pravahati died and became gods and goddesses in the first heaven, while the thief Vidyu dvega, upon dying, went to hell. At some point, the couple of gods came to earth for amusement, and Vidyu dvega, having escaped from hell, became the sage Bhima. ||22|| Thus, the three beings, recognizing each other, forgave each other. ||23||
