महापातालपइण्णयं कथित (३) श्रुतकेवली कथित और (४) पूर्वधर-कथित । पुनः मूलाचार में इन आगमिक ग्रन्थों का कालिक और उत्कालिक के रूप में वर्गीकरण किया गया है किन्तु मूलाचार में कहीं भी महाप्रत्याख्यान का नाम नहीं आया है । अतः यापनीय परम्परा इसे किस वर्ग में वर्गीकृत करती थी, यह कहना कठिन है।
वर्तमान में आगमों के अंग, उपांग, छेद, मूलसूत्र, प्रकीर्णक आदि विभाग किये जाते हैं। यह विभागीकरण हमें सर्वप्रथम विधिमार्गप्रपा (जिनप्रभ-१३वीं शताब्दी) में प्राप्त होता है। सामान्यतया प्रकीर्णक का अर्थ विविध विषयों पर संकलित ग्रन्थ ही किया जाता है। नन्दोसूत्र के टीकाकार मलयगिरि ने लिखा है कि तीर्थंकरों द्वारा उपदिष्ट श्रुत का अनुसरण करके श्रमण प्रकीर्णकों की रचना करते थे। परम्परानुसार यह भी मान्यता है कि प्रत्येक श्रमण एक-एक प्रकीर्णक की रचना करता था। समवायांग सूत्र में "चोरासीइं पण्णग सहस्साइं पण्णत्ता" कहकर ऋषभदेव के चौरासी हजार शिष्यों के चौरासी हजार प्रकीर्णकों का उल्लेख किया है। महावीर के तीर्थ में चौदह हजार साधुओं का उल्लेख प्राप्त होता है। अतः उनके तीर्थ में प्रकीर्णकों की संख्या भी चौदह हजार मानी गयी है। किन्तु आज प्रकीर्णकों की संख्या दस मानी जाती है।
ये दस प्रकीर्णक निम्न हैं
(१) चतुःशरण (२) आतुर प्रत्याख्यान (३) संस्तारक (४) चन्द्रवेध्यक (५) गच्छाचार (६) तन्दुलवैचारिक (७) देवेन्द्रस्तव (८) गणिविद्या (९) महाप्रत्याख्यान और (१०) मरण विधि ।
मुनि पुण्यविजय जी द्वारा सम्पादित पइण्णयसुत्ताइं में दस प्रकोणकों के नाम निम्नानुसार हैं
(१) चतुःशरण (२) आतुरप्रत्याख्यान (३) भक्तपरिज्ञा (४) संस्तारक (५) तन्दुलवैचारिक (६) चन्द्रवेध्यक (७) देवेन्द्रस्तव (८) गणिविद्या (९) महाप्रत्याख्यान और (१०) वीरस्तव
दस प्रकीर्णकों को श्वेताम्बर मर्तिपूजक सम्प्रदाय आगमों की श्रेणी में मानता है। परन्तु प्रकीर्णक नाम से अभिहित इन ग्रन्थों का संग्रह किया जाय तो निम्न बाईस नाम प्राप्त होते हैं
१. विधिमार्गप्रपा-पृष्ठ ५५ । २. समवायांग सूत्र-मुनि मधुकर-८४वाँ समवाय । ३. पइण्णयसुत्ताई, प्रस्तावना पृष्ठ २० ।
