કરતાં, તેઓશ્રીએ અભ્યાસીવગને ઉપયોગી થઈ પડવાની પોતાની હંમેશની તત્પરતાથી, ખાસ મહેનત લઈ, જે કંઈ સમજૂતી પૂરી પાડી, તે ત્યાં ત્યાં ઉમેરી લેવામાં આવી છે. તેમાંને કેટલાક ભાગ પુસ્તકને અંતે ‘પુરવણી' રૂપે આપેલા છે; તથા સૂચિને અ ંતે પણ એકાદ છે ચાખવટો કરેલી છે.
આશા છે કે આ નવી આવૃત્તિ પણ જૈન સિદ્ધાંતના જિજ્ઞાસુવર્ગીની વિશિષ્ટ આવશ્યકતા પૂરી પાડવાની પોતાની પ્રણાલી ચાલુ રાખશે.
ચેાથી આવૃત્તિનું નિવેદન
તત્ત્વા સૂત્રની ત્રીજી આવૃત્તિ ધણાં વર્ષોંથી સમાપ્ત હતી. આ ચોથી આવૃત્તિના પ્રકાશન ખર્ચ પેટે અમને ૫. શ્રી સુખલાલજી દ્વારા સ્થાપિત જ્ઞાનાય ટ્રસ્ટની આર્થિક સહાયતા શ. ૪૦૦૦ મળી તે માટે અમે ટ્રસ્ટીઓના આભારી છીએ.
પ્રસ્તુત આવૃત્તિમાં ૫. સુખલાલજીનું વક્તવ્ય’-છે તેમાં તેમણે તત્ત્વાર્થ સૂત્રની હિંદીની ખીજી આવૃત્તિ (ઈ. ૧૯૫૨) વેળા જે ઉમેશ કર્યાં હતા તેને ગુજરાતી અનુવાદ સમાવી લેવામાં આવ્યો છે. ઉપરાંત પુરવણીમાં શ્રી સુઝૂકે આહિરાના તત્ત્વા સૂત્રના મૌલિક પાઠ વિષેના અંગ્રેજી લેખનુ ડૉ. કનુભાઈ શેઠે કરેલ ગુજરાતી ભાષાન્તર પણ પંડિતજીની સંમતિથી ઉમેરવામાં આવ્યું છે. અમે શ્રી એહીરા તથા ડૅા. શેઠના આભારી છીએ.
પરિચય”માં ઉમાસ્વાતિના સમયની વિચારણામાં નયચક્રગત તત્ત્વા અને ભાષ્યના ઉલ્લેખાની નોંધ લેવામાં આવી છે અને ધ્યાન વિષેના સૂત્ર ૯–૨૮માં એક નોંધ ઉમેરવામાં આવી છે. આ નવા ઉમેરણા વિષે વિદ્રાનાનું ધ્યાન દોરવું જરૂરી છે.

Statement on the fifth edition

The third edition of the Tattvartha Sutra has been completed for many years. We are grateful to the trustees for the financial assistance of ₹4000 provided by the Jnanay Trust established by Shri Sukhlalji for the publication expenses of this fourth edition.

In the present edition, there is a statement by Shri Sukhlalji wherein he has included the Gujarati translation of his earlier Hindi edition (1952) that he made at that time. Additionally, in the supplements, the English writing by Shri Suzhuka Ahir on the original text of the Tattvartha Sutra has also been added with the consent of Panditji, translated into Gujarati by Dr. Kanubhai Sheth. We are thankful to Shri Ahir and Dr. Sheth.

In the "Introduction," a note has been added regarding the mention of the principles of Nayachakra in the context of Umasvati's time and a note has also been added regarding sutra 9-28 on meditation. It is necessary to draw attention to these new additions.
