The Laya Sutra does not have a singular position, as from the perspective of birth, some beings attain liberation from different karmic realms within the twelve realms, and from the perspective of annihilation, liberation can be achieved from the entire human sphere. (Concerning the Avasarpiṇī and other worldly times): From the perspective of the present, the paths to liberation are not associated with any worldly time cycle and can be achieved simultaneously. From the perspective of the past, liberation is attained by those born in the categories of avasarpiṇī, utsarpiṇī, and anutsarpiṇī. Similarly, considering annihilation, liberation is attained in all mentioned times.
Regarding the present perspective, liberation occurs only in the path of liberation. If we consider the last existence in the past perspective, it is from the human state, and if we consider the last and the previous existence, it can emerge from all four states of existence.
Thus, in the first sense, according to the Vedas and symbols, liberation is achieved only in the present perspective. From the past perspective, both women, men, and hermaphrodites attain liberation from all three Vedas. In the second sense, liberation is only achieved in the present perspective through the non-linguistic. From the past perspective, considering what is internal knowledge (bhavalinga), it is attained by self-liberation, meaning through detachment; and by considering the external attire (vyalinga), liberation is attained in three forms: self-liberation (Jain linga), other-liberation (paralinga), meaning liberation associated with external paths, and household liberation (gruhasthalinga). * Whether in the form of Tirthankara or in some form not related to Tirthankara, liberation can occur. Liberation can occur whether a Tirtha is active or inactive at that time.
