INTRODUCTION
along with the reading. But I am unable to identify some manuscripts on the basis of these signs. Yet I am able to know the description of most of the manuscripts. Only two manuscripts bearing signs and f. and utilised in editing Joisakaramḍagam painnagam only remain unidentified, because they are not found listed in the Catalogue of Palm-leaf manuscripts in the Santinātha Jaina Jñāna Bhaṇḍāra, Cambay, published by the Oriental Institute, Baroda. I know three other Jaina Jñana Bhaṇḍāras in Cambay, viz. Śāsanasamrat Acārya Vijayanemisūriśvara Bhaṇḍāra, Jaina Sālā Bhandara and Payacanda Gaccha Bhaṇḍāra. Either any of these three Bhaṇḍāras or some other Bhaṇḍāra in Cambay, not known to me, must have these two manuscripts. On the basis of signs we can certainly say that they belong to a Bhaṇḍāra in Cambay. The manuscript bearing the sign go and utilised in editing Joisakarandagam Painnagam should be found in the Muni Punyavijaya Collection, but to my utter surprise I could not find it there. This leads us to infer that the manuscript given by someone was first regarded as gift to Muni Shri Punyavijayaji but later on it turned out to be a loan and was returned to the giver. Here first I shall describe the manuscripts containing the collection of different Prakirṇakasūtras and then I shall describe other manuscripts.

This is a palm-leaf manuscript belonging to the Samghavīpāḍā Jaina Jñānabhaṇḍāra preserved in the Hemacandrācārya Jaina Jñānamandira, Patan. It is numbered 65 in the new list, whereas in the Catalogue entitled 'Pattanastha-Jaina-bhāṇḍāgārīyasūci' it is listed under No. 82 (see p. 60). It contains twelve out of twenty Prakirṇakasutras printed in this first part. Moreover, a tract having the title Ajivakappo is also contained in it; this tract most probably forms a part of some voluminous Bhāṣya work. The order in which the texts are written in this manuscript is as follows: 1 Kusalāņubamdhiajjhayana (Causarana), 2 Aurapaccakkhāna (16th in this work), 3 Bhaktaparijñā, 4 Samstārakaprakirnaka, 5 Tamdulaveyāliya, 6 Camdavijjhaya, 7 Devendrastava, 8 Gaṇividyaprakīrņaka, 9 Mahāpaccakkhāna, 10 Virastava, 11 Ajivakappa, 12 Gacchācāra and 13 Maranasamadhi. The manuscript consists of 130 folios. Folios Nos. 1, 2 and 7 are missing. Each side of the folio contains 5 to 8 lines. Folios are very brittle. Left sides of the folios 113-130 are mutilated more and more as we proceed from No. 113 to 130. The script is legible. The size is 12" x 24". The colophon of the copyist is as follows:
