find the corrupt sūtra-pada 'ussulaga' in place of this sūtra-pada. The printed editions of the Curni, the Paiyaṭīkā and the Nemicandriyaṭīkā mention 'ussulaga' as a pratika. But the correct reading 'omulaga' is available in the palm-leaf mss. and ; and the mss. of the Curni, the Paiyaṭīkā and the Nemicandriyaṭīkā also mention this correct reading as pratika. I am happy to find the correct reading omulaga in place of the meaningless corrupt reading ussulaga. Refer to foot-note 20 on p. 120.
15. The verse 595 (verse 45 of Chapter XVIII) is an interpolation. It is available in all the mss. except. Even the printed edition and the mss. of the Nemicandriyaṭikā have accepted it in the body of the text of the Uttaradhyayanasutra. So, I too have accepted it in the body of the text. Refer to foot-note 11 on p. 174. 16. The verse 612 (verse 8 of Chapter XIX) is not found in o and ao. The printed edition . records it as an interpolation. But it is available in all the mss. except . Again, the author of the Curni comments on the sutra-pada 'sanniņāne' occurring in this verse. This clearly proves that it is not an interpolation; it is an original verse. So, I have accepted it in the body of the text. Refer to foot-note 1 on p. 177.

17. After verse 973 (verse 21 of Chapter XXV) one additional verse, viz. 'tavassiyaṁ kisaṁ damtam" is found in the printed edition In the printed edition to this verse is recorded as the additional one found in some other printed edition. In all the mss. (except q) this additional verse is not available. So, I have not accepted it in the body of the text. The Curni on Chapter XXV being very succinct, this verse is not found mentioned in it. Refer to foot-note 15 on p. 224.
18. After verse 979 (verse 27 of Chapter XXV) there occurs a verse 'jahitta puvvasamjogam. As an interpolated sutra-pāṭha it is included in the body of the text printed in the present volume. It is available in both the palm-leaf mss. and, but it is not available in any of the paper mss. The authors of the Paiyaṭika and the Nemicandriyaṭikā consider it to be a variant of verse 979, viz. 'aloluyam" etc. So, in these commentaries this verse does not bear the sutra No. Refer to foot-note 18 on p. 225. In the Curni the explanation of this whole chapter being very succinct, this verse does not find mention there.
19. Wherever the sutra-padas of a sutra are almost the same as those found in the immediately preceding sutra, they are abridged. We find this on examination of the old mss. of the Agama works. With the remark that the unabridged version of the sutras 1166,, 1167, 1168, 1170, 1171 and 1172 is the same as the unabridged version of their preceding sutras, all the mss. give the abridged version of these
