7. At one place I have accepted a reading pointed out in the Curni alone, because it fits well in the context and yields better meaning. Refer to foot-note 14 on p. 154.
8. At one place I have accepted the reading accepted in the printed edition o. Refer to foot-note 9 on p. 163. There is one place where I have accepted the reading accepted in the printed editions To and ao. Refer to foot-note 10 on p. 163.
9. There is one place where I have accepted the reading accepted by the Curni and yielded by all the mss. The reading accepted by the Paiyaṭīkā and the Nemicandriyaṭīkā is given in foot-note 1 on p. 200.
10. Regarding the readings pertaining to those sutra-padas that are not explained in the commentaries on account of their being easy to understand, I have accepted those that are yielded by very old mss. An instance in point is the sutra-pada 'carupehini' occurring in verse 824.
11. At one place a sutra-pada is not explained in the Curni and the Nemicandriyaṭīkā, as it is deemed easy to understand. Following the explanation of this sutra-pada, given in the Paiyaṭīkā, and keeping in view the meaning suggested by the different readings yielded by the mss., I have accepted the sutra-pada accepted by the author of the Paiyaṭikā. Refer to foot-note 4 on p. 250.
12. The editors of the printed editions of the Paiyaṭīkā and the Nemicandriyaṭika have accepted the sutra-sloka 'thavaram jamgamam ceva in the body of the text after sutra 166 (i.e. after 5th verse of Chapter VI). This interpolated verse is not found in 1 and go mss. Even the printed edition does not contain it. I have written an extensive note explaining as to why this verse should be regarded as an interpolation. Refer to foot-note 12 on page 108. In support I have quoted pertinent passages from the twelve old mss. of the Nemicandriyavṛtti on the Uttaradhyayanasutra.
13. The first half of the verse 218 (verse 10 of Chapter VIII) is available in all the mss. So, I have accepted it in the body of the text. The Curni and the Paiyaṭikā record it as a variant. The reading accepted by Nemicandra in his commentary is similar to the one accepted by the author of the Paiyaṭikā. As there is no difference with regard to the meaning yielded by all these different readings, I have accepted the one uniformly available in all the mss..
