________________ The Hymn of Mudgala Bhāimyasva (X, 102) 39 to form the basis of interpretation but it at the same time cannot be neglected altogether. When it does not exist at all, it could be an argument against a particular way and when it does exist, it has a limited but weighty authority which it would be unwise to disregard. The Nirukta and the commentary of Durga, the Brhaddevatā, the Purāṇas all throw light on this hymn and I believe, it would be much safer to walk in this light than to grope in sheer darkness.
