In his talks, writings, and exemplary life, Gurudev Shree Chitrabhanu, spiritual leader and meditation master, helps people of all faiths and cultures free themselves from limitations and unite in loving reverence for all life. He became the first Jain monk to travel to the West when he agreed to address Spiritual Summit Conferences sponsored by the Temple of Understanding in Geneva in 1970 and Harvard Divinity School in 1971. After twenty-nine years as a monk, he renounced the sectarian fold in order to experience living as a universal being and to share his insights with the larger family of humankind. Currently spiritual advisor to the Jain Meditation International Center in New York, he has inspired his students in Canada, England, India, Brazil, and such diverse parts of America as Boston, Pittsburgh, St. Cloud, and Upper Montclair to open centers which practice and teach his unique system of meditation and universal philosophy of living for life.
Clare Rosenfield received her B.A. from Smith College and Master's degree in French literature from Columbia University. While living in Thailand for six years, she coauthored Ten Lives of the Buddha: Siamese Temple Paintings and Jataka Tales. Studying closely with Gurudev here and in India, she edited his Philosophy of Soul and Matter and is presently at work on a biography of him. She teaches meditation in her home in Hartsdale where she lives with her husband and two children.
