________________ Kapil told the king the reason for his going out at night. The king was convinced of his innocence. He asked him what he wanted. At first Kapil wanted to ask for a necklace, anklets etc. Then he changed his mind and wished to ask for the kingdom so that he would no longer be in want. Then the king asked him again, “What do you want?" He was about to ask for the kingdom, but then all of a sudden, the scales fell from his greedy eyes and he thought, “Desires are a source of all our unhappiness. Then why not give up desires? Desirelessness brings eternal bliss." Seeing him absent-minded, the king again asked him to express his desire. Kapil stared at the king blankly and said “Your Majesty, I want nothing!" Kapil did not return to his house and the girl. He took the road that led to the forest passing by the mountain range. Oh, what a transformation! 000 56Page Navigation
