________________ 131 Vishvanath is the sixth in descent from Mahadevaji. The members of this family, from one generation to the other, remained lovers of learning and Sanskrit and collected manuscripts or copied out standard works in their own handwriting. Through the efforts of Pt. Venimadhava Sharma, Dharmadhikari, Acharya, a Surveyor in the Institute, Shri Vishvanath Sharadanandan had the good sense of donating his ancestral collection to the Institute for preservation and use of scholars. This volume embodies details of 321 Sanskrit and Prakrit manuscripts of this collection. The fourth collection, as stated above, was transferred to this Institute from the Maharaja's Public Library, Jaipur. There are 171 Sanskrit and Prakrit manuscripts in this collection which have been catalogued in this volume. Some of the manuscripts, contained in this collection, are rare and important. Thus, the second part of the catalogue of Sanskrit and Prakrit manuscripts preserved in the Rajasthan Oriental Research Institute comprising 7,483 entries reaches completion. Part III has also been edited and is ready for the press. The fourth part is under preparation. The style and pattern of this volume is the same as maintained in the previous volumes. We express our deep gratitude towards the Ministry of Education, Government of India, New Delhi, through whose financial assistance these volumes of catalogue are being brought out by this Institute. I am thankful to Sarvashri Ramadhar Tiwari and Mehtab Chandra Khared of Jaipur who so laborously prepared identity cards of the manuscripts, with great care and interest. Similarly, Shri Gopal Narayan Bahura, M. A., Dy. Director of the Institute and Shri Laxmi Narayan Goswami, Cataloguing Assistant, have rendered great co-operation and assistance in bringing out the volume in its present form. They have done it with the utmost devotion. With all apologies to the scholars for the mistakes and errors, which might be found in this volume, I hope it would serve a great purpose towards imparting new information regarding many manuscripts which have hitherto remained unknown. 25-12-65.
