Vrinda is the sacred basil (tulsi) tree, and “bana" means “forest". Brindaban is the home of the sacred tulsi tree. Situated on the right bank of the river Jamuna, in the Mathura District, Brindaban is dear to every lover of Krishna. There Krishna played on the flute and threw the spell of his pure, divine love on all who saw Him and heard Him. And there a thousand temples stand dedicated to "Govinda Deva", -to Krishna, the Guardian of cows and the cattle.
