Right knowledge (Jñāna), right faith (Darśana), renunciation (Pratyākhyāna), Discipline (Samvarao) and yoga are the means to realize the real nature of the self. The same self (soul) is in knowledge, perception, renunciation, discipline and Yoga. What appears as knowledge, faith and conduct is no other than the self. From practical view-point (Vyavahāranaya) they are said to be different from the self, but from real view-point (niscaya-naya) they are one and same with self. Right faith, knowledge and conduct should always be pursued by a saint, but he must know that all these three from real view-point are the self itself. Thus we can say that Jainism is based on the spiritual foundation of the self realisation i.e. Ātma-sākşātkāra.
