Out of the spiritual practice of listening, chanting and embodying in simple reverent movements within a prayerful circle of people, the heart is softened into an hospitable place where all are welcomed. One's own tradition is blessed and enriched by the respectful welcome of those different from ourselves. It is the mantric sounds of a rich diversity of sacred phrases that we can receive the power to commit to a Pathway of Peace. Brother Joseph Kilikevice, O.P., is a friar of the Dominican Order in the Catholic Church and founding director of the SHEM Center for Interfaith Spirituality, Oak Park, Illinois. He has offered experiential interfaith retreats nationally and internationally since 1980. Francis Garcia has practiced Buddhism for 28 years and has been an organizer of socio-cultural encounters of masters from diverse religious traditions.
