________________ The utility of the Panjika lies in its faithful presentation of the views expressed by Sridhara. Rajasekhara tries to explain as many concepts of Sridhara as possible. He, therefore, gives Pratikas from the Kandali in abundance. He never starts or enters or becomes a party to any new discussion. Panjika is, therefore, an important and well-balanced gloss on the Kandali creating a sort of clarity of comprehension. The abundance of Pratikas also helps us to settle some of the readings of the Kandali. Moreover, it seems that Rajasekhara has consulted more than one MS. of the Kandali. For many a time he offers alternative readings giving his preference occasionally.? Generally he prefers the reading as accepted by Naracandra in his Tippana. Not only in the matter of the readings, but at many other places also Rajasekhara follows respectfully the views of Naracandra. He displays a great feeling of reverence for Naracandra. He is so modest that sometimes he admits his inability to explain the meaning of a particular sentence of the Kandali and tells frankly that those, who are interested in understanding in details the point under discussion, should see the relevant topic in the Tippana of Naracandra. It may be remarked in fine that besides Kanada, Prasastapada, PaksilaSwami and Vyomasivacarya, Rajasekhara mentions Jaiminiyas, Prabhakaras, Mandanamisra, Uddyotakaracarya, Dharmakirti, Udayana and Bhusanakara. --7 Nyayakusumodgama of Sidila Vommideva The name of Sidila Vommideva is perhaps unknown. From the beginning of this commentary, we can know that he was a Brahma Bhupati. He belonged to the solar race and was the son of a king named Itungola. The peculiarity of this name suggests a Southern origin. Hence it may be presumed that silila was a king of some Southern state.
