But rage that flares up like a flame of fire from a heap of grass, cooling down thereafter, is better than rage continually burning and consuming like a red-hot ember swirling in a cauldron of fire. Rain lashing in a downpour is far more activating than a slow, continuous drizzle, as it clears the sky and cleanses the bye-ways. But a drizzle only darkens the firmament, making the lanes evermore muddy and filthy. Whose Loss? O Man, looking at lovely objects with your lascivious eyes! Lovely objects will not become a jot unlovely thereby under the dint of your lascivious perception. Only your eyes and your mind shall become sordid that way. Greater will be your loss than of loveliness in that case. The sight that has lost its increase has forfeited its strength as well. 88
