________________ DISCOVERY OF ŞATAVĀHANA AND RĀȘTRAKUTA TABLETS AT JEEVARGI IN KARNATAKA INDIA. A team of researchers headed by Dr. M.R. Shadakshriah of the faculty of History and Archaeology Karnataka University has made a discovery of Jaina artifacts belonging to the Şatavāhana and Rāştrakuta dynasties who ruled in early and medieval periods respectively. In the vicinity of Jain temple in Jeevargi city, a tablet belonging to Satavāhana times, and measuring 99 by 77 cm. was discovered. It depicts a picture of a standing man along with an horse in the lower part, and in the broken upper part, the legs of important people are seen. In the same city, six Rāştakuta artifacts - a stone pillar, torana and door jambs - have been discovered near the Māruti temple which is situated opposite to Şanmukha matha. At the bottom of the pillars, are pictures of lying lions and a meditating Jina. Next to the Jina, there is a picture of three men playing instruments.
