________________ Ajit ::::::: : Munisuvrata, the twentieth Tirthankar, was born in Rajgriba; the twentyfirst Tirthankar, Naminatha, was born in Mithila. Bihar is also the place where twenty Tirthankars had attained their Nirvana at Parsvanatha Hill. These Tirthankars were - (second) Samhavanatha (third) Abhinandana (fourth) Sumatinatha (fifth) Padma Prabhu (sixth) Suparsvanatha (seventh) Chandra Prabhu (eighth) Suvidhinatha or Pushpadanta ) (ninth) Sitalanatha (tenth) Shreyanshanatha (eleventh) Vimalanatha (thirteenth) Anantanatha (fourteenth) Dharmanatha (fifteenth) Shantinatha (sixteenth) Kunthunatha (seventeenth) Arahnath (eighteenth) Mallinatha (nineteenth) Munisuvrata (twentieth) Naminatha (twentyfirst) and Parsvanatha (twentythird) Besides this, Basupujya (the twelfth Tirthankar) attained his Nirvana at Champapur (Mandar hill in Bhagalpur district). It has been mentioned before that the last and twentyfourth Tirthankar, Mahavira, had obtained his Nirvana at Pawapuri in Patna district. There can be no doubt that Bihar is naturally the most sacred place for the Jains all over India. The role of Bihar in the history of Jainism has, in a way, been summed up by Dr. B. C. Law in his book :::: ::::::Page Navigation
