HOST COMMITTEE Suggested Activities
The following are six ways the Host Committee of various faith and religious traditions are seeking to participate in the 1993 Parliament of the World's Religions (to be held in Chicago next August 28 to September 5):
1. REPRESENTATION OF FAITH/RELIGIOUS TRADITION TO THE PARLIAMENT
The host committee is to decide how their own faith or religious
tradition will be presented at the parliament. Through the choosing of speakers, workshops, exhibits, presentations, and performances of various kinds, the Host Committee will represent their faith/religious tradition in the Parliament forum.
2. FUNDRAISING FOR THE PARLIAMENT EVENT
Each Host Committee is asked to raise funds for the general budget and operations of the 1993 event.
3. FUNDRAISING FOR FAITH/RELIGIOUS REPRESENTATION
Each Host Committee will need to raise funds to under write expenses of speakers, workshops, presentations, etc, that will represent their faith/religious tradition to the Parliament.
4. PUBLICITY
Host Committees are asked to publicize the Parliament event within their own faith/religious community. making their own members aware of the 1993 event and encouraging registrations.
5. VOLUNTEERS
Host Committees are asked to recruit volunteers from their own faith/religious community to help with the necessary planning and activities leading up to the 1993 Parliament. And of course, hundreds
of volunteers will be needed at the actual event itself. 6. "WINDOWS OF FAITH' BUS TOUR
Plans are being made for a "Windows of Faith" bus tour, on which persons attending the Parliament could visit places of worship or religious centers of the various faith and religious tradition represented in the Chicago metroplitan area. Each Host Committee would deisgnate the place of worship or center of activity to be visited on the tour, and would have an opportunity to share about their faith or religious tradition with visitors.
