DISCUSSION WILL BE GEARED TOWARD CONTROVERSIAL TOPICS OF EVOLUTION, ANIMAL RESEARCH, AND TECHNOLOGY ALONG WITH A WIDE VARIETY OF SESSIONS INCLUDING DISCUSSIONS, LECTURES, AND QUESTION/ ANSWER SESSIONS. THE WEEKEND ALLOWS FOR THE ATTENDEES TO MEET EACH OTHER DURING ACTIVITIES. THE NIGHT ACTIVITIES INCLUDE ICEBREAKERS AND BOWLING. Date: January 17th-19th, 2002 Do you wonder how science conflicts with your religion in your everyday life? How much does Jain philsophy govern our life? The weekend will answer these questions and more through discussions, lectures, and debates. Attendees explore and reflect upon their everyday lives. Other activities include a semi-formal, cultural show, garba, yoga, and meditation. The Jain philosophy will be compared with other religions. Youth will discuss how to incorporate compassion into their everyday lives. Exciting lectures and discussions will be coordinated by local speakers with hands-on involvement through a temple visit. Other activities being planned are a museum outing and a raas garba. MODERN SCIENCE South Regional Conference Location: Jain Center of Houston, Houston, TX Date: November 29th-December 1st, 2002 Over the past few years, revolution in science has amazed us. Further, the parallelism with Jain Scriptures written centuries ago is a phenomenon. This is conference is geared towards bringing out the similarities with Jain philosophy and the scientific world. Presentations will be given by the Samanjis, the Houston, and Dallas Youth Groups. Attendees are guaranteed to have fun and meet youth from across the South region. Topics include Veganism, Raw Foods, Dating and Relationships. Interactive sessions and discussion have been planned in order to allow the participants to meet each other while learning Jainism.
