Dear fellow Jain community members:
Jai Jinendra! Young Jains of America (YJA) and the Houston YJA Convention Committee (HYJACO) are pleased to present the program of activities for the 3rd Biennial YJA Convention. Under the theme, "Jainism - Back to Basics", the fundamental principles of our religion will be explored and expanded upon through a variety of exciting sessions.
In early May, descriptions of the convention activities were sent to all registered convention participants. Participants were asked to select which activities they wished to attend, and to mark this information on an Activity Selection Sheet that was to be returned to the convention organizers.
On the following pages you will find a schedule of activites planned for the convention. In addition, a brief description of each keynote speaker is included.
Please feel to contact any one of the convention committee members listed below for more information.
The convention will utilize a variety of different session formats which include lectures by experienced guest speakers, workshops and seminars, and small group discussions to allow participation and interaction amongst all attendees. The distinguished keynote speakers for the convention are Shri Gurudev Chitrabhanuji. Balabhadraji (Bruce Costain), Sadhviji Shilapiji. Dr. Benjamin Zephaniah, Dr. Cromwell Crawford and Professor Janice Leoshko. In addition, other young and old Jain thought leaders from around the country will conduct the convention workshops and discussions. These activities promise to enlighten and stimulate.
