Observation of Pandit Saminatha Aiyar' in his edition of a portion of the Jivakachintāmaņi, published in 1899.
The Pandit is of opinion that the Tamil Jivakachintāmaņi is not an original work.
The Sanskrit poems which treat of the story of Jivaka are based on the Jain purāņas.
The original story of Jivaka is found in the Mahăpurāņa.
Jivakachintámaņi was composed during the period ranging from the beginning of the 10th to the second half of the 11th cent. A.D.
