This year's theme, "Jainism: Past -- Present -- Future," will focus on your progress over the years in the cause of freedom and social equality and your plans to continue your dedicated mission into the 21st century and beyond.
The Jain tradition, which enthroned the philosophy of ecological harmony and nonviolence as its guide, flourished for centuries in ancient India. Today, you have an excellent opportunity to share thoughts and ideas on the Jain perspective -- its reverence for life in all forms, and its commitment to the progress of human civilization and to the preservation of the natural environment.
On behalf of all Pennsylvanians, I extend best wishes for a productive and enjoyable convention, and for every continuing success in the years ahead.
