________________ Dr. (Smt.) Pritam Singhvi's present study attempts an over-all historical-comparative survey of the Krsna-carita in the long Hindu and Jain literary traditions. In the earlier section the main events in Krsna's life are summarized on the basis of well-known source-works in Sanskrit and Prakrut. This provides a frame for examining the continuatin of the traditions in the pre-Hindi, 'Early Hindi and Modern Hindi works in the subject. The specific value of this latter section lies in presentig a systematic, detailed account of neui developments in the kisna-carita traditions We can certainly flope that Dr. Singhvi will continu to work in this less explored area and urge fier in particular to undetake editing of some unpublished Early Hindi text relating to the Jain Harivansa.
