Shugan C Jain, “Jain Diet', in Study Notes, www.isjs.in Six types of external austerities have first three as fasting, eating less and avoiding a taste (one at a time daily). Abhidhāna Rājendra Kośa, vol.1 p.423 Aptamīmāmsā; 15, 34, 56 Reality is Anekāntika i.e. with infinite aspects-Samantabhadra. The object of knowledge is the real thing which is not one-sided. Nothing in this universe can be understood in its true nature in one single aspect-Siddhasena Divākara. A thing or real is Anekāntātmaka which means that the nature of reality is manysided when we adopt a comprehensive view of all things found in this world. In other words according to the doctrine of Anekānta the truth is relative and not absolute-Akalanka. A thing or real has endless attributes. It is not possible to explain the nature of reality otherwise-Hemcandra. Acārya Amộtacandra starts his famous tenth century work Purusārthasiddhyupāya by paying obeisance to the doctrine of Anekāntavāda.
