logue are well know they all deal with Neroichandra Jain Siddhanta, for a sound knowledge of which this author has been famous as Siddhanta-chakravaittin. A very good account of the author and his works will be found in Pro. fessor Saratchandra Ghosal's Intruducuion to his Diavya-samgraha published in the "Sacred Books of the Jain Series'. These details work out correctly for the Saka ycar 951 whose cyclic name was Vibhava, the exact equivalent bemg Sunday, the 23rd March 1029 .0 11 we lako the Kalki era lo begia from the reign of Kalki Chaturmukha. who according to the statement in the "Trailokya pajnapti' (cf. above, died in Nirvana Samvat 1000 alter a reign ut over 42 years, we get 1000-44 + 600-527=1029 A.D. lor the establishment of the image, but this date does not work well with the dates given above lur inachamalla. Professor Ghosal equates the date mentioned in Bahubal-charita with Sunday, the 2ud April 980 AD. but according to Swamu hannu Pillar's ludian Ephemeris aud April in that year Icll on a Friday aud not Suuday and the tithi current was 141h Sukla ol Chaitra and not 5th. The cylic year was Vikramd and not Vibbava. Nemichandra is stated to have written Gommatasära and other works for the instruction of Chamundaräja. Bul Brahmadeva, the commentator on Dravyd-samgraha, declares tbat Nemichaudra wrote the work duriog the reign ot Bhojacera of Dhárā who came to the throne in D. 1010, Al Beruni found him reigning in 1030 A.D. Again Nemichaudra in his Kara akanda wuakes obeisance to several sages as his preceptors. These are Abbayanandi, Virauaudi, ludraba..di and Kauakanandi. One Vtranandi is the author of "Chandraprabha kavya " (of. Catalogue), but the date of its compositiou is not known. Yet it is very nearly proved that he preceded Nemichandra, as Vadiraja Sari who
