________________ punishment. Depy the poison86 revenge vitiate the rest of your life. Life is like a long bridge. At one end is the body with all its senses and desires and temptations. At the other end of the bridge is the beckoning light of the soul. Every man must consider himself a pilgrim, moving towards that Divine Light -the Soul. Life is but a journey from one end to the other. Or let me put it before you in another way. If you have a very precious possession, where do you keep it: Surely, not on your doorstep! It is too precious to be kept so carelessly. You would put it in a safe place in the inner room. So, too, is your soul. It is very precious. You cannot see it. It is hidden within your inmost recesses. You cannot see your soul. But it is definitely there. Life must be spent in an attempt to catch a glimpse of this soul within you. Only those who have caught a glimpse of it are truly happy, truly blessed. They need not go from shrine to shrine, from temple to temple in search of a vision of the Lord. The Lord is right within them-only they have to search for Him. But perhaps you will say, you have to make a living, support a family; where have you the time to look for the soul-the Lord-within you? By all means you must work, but even as you do your daily work, do it in such a way that you are always drawing nearer to your soul. How? Work with honesty, do not covet what does not belong to you, 25
