A lady said to Swami Vivekananda, "I desire to give birth to a son like you." It was clear that the lady was infatuated with him, but with an attitude of detachment, Vivekananda replied, "Mother, you can think that I am your son." An enlightened man does not fall into the bondage of sensual desires. He does not desire the momentary joy resulting from the gratification of sensual desires. On the contrary, he endeavours to attain eternal, endless, ineffable peace and happiness. The man whose mental eyes are opened by enlightenment hears the deeper voice of his soul, repeating itself in rhythmic strains and experiences an ecstasy and an immortal change and is transmuted into something splendid.
