________________ GLOSSARY OF SOME HINDI WORDS USED IN MODERN JAIN LITERATURE acharya anuprcksha anuvrat asana ayurved chitta dhyana dharmya dhyana japa lesliya leshya dhyana karma kayotsarg kundalini mantra muni pranayam preksha preksha dhyana sadhak Jain Education International Founderor leader (of a school of thought), teacher, preceptor. Concentration of thought; contemplation; cf. preksha which means concentration of ob servation. A small vow; anuvrat is also the name of the moral movement started by Acharya Sri Tulsi in 1949, inspiring people to take vows not to indulge in particular evils. The person who joins the movement and takes such a vow is called an anuvrati. Yogic posture. An Indian system of medicine. Consciousness; conscious mind; psyche. Concentration, meditation. Concentration on the nature of reality. Iteration of a mantra or a deity's name. Psychic colour; passions. Perception of psychic colours. Action: according to the doctrine of karma, a man reaps what he sows, i.e., a person's fate is determined by his past actions. Rising above the kaya (body); self-awareness by relaxation. Awakening of vital or bioelectrical energy through concentration on different parts of the body, one by one and all at once; tejolabdhi, tejoleshya. Spell-word. Monk, sadhu.
