TWO ANTIQUE IDOLS RECOVERED, SMUGGLERS' GANG BUSTED New Delhi, June 23 Two people were arrested and two priceless antique idols were recovered from them as Delhi Police's Crime Branch said Tuesday it had busted a gang involved in smuggling of such artifacts. The accused, Suresh and Nepal Singh, were arrested from Delhi while they were trying
to sell the two stolen antiquities. Archaeological Survey of India officials, after preliminary examination, confirmed that both sculptures are precious antiquities.
SIX HELD IN JAIN TEMPLE MURDER CASE CHENNAI: In a significant breakthrough, police have arrested six persons in the Jain temple murder and heist case and recovered a total of 9.22 kg of gold jewellery worth Rs 1.02 crore. At a press conference City Police Commissioner said all the six persons, two directly accused, Ram Bahadur Kohli (29) and Suraj Bahadur Kohli (24), and their accomplices, Ram Bahadur's wife Sita Devi (23), Ramesh (20), Kairiya Sher Bahadur (30) and Amar (28), were picked up from the city by a special police team. The police chief said a total of 11 persons, all Nepalis, were involved in the murder-forgain that took place at Chandraprabhu Jain temple on Mint Street on May 28. Ten were present at the scene of the crime, while the kingpin, Bahadur Singh, a former watchman of the temple, directed the operations from Nepal. During investigation, it came to light that the entire conspiracy was hatched by Bahadur Singh, who had been working in the temple for the last two years. During questioning, the arrested persons reportedly confessed the crime.
