DEVLOK GAMAN Gurudev Shri Chandan muni ji maharaj (Punjabi) left for his heavenly abode on the 31st July, 2007 at Ludhiana. He had been indisposed due to old age for quite some time but was suddenly taken ill seriously from which he could not recover. Shri Chandan Muni ji was very popular owing to his literary taste. He also used to write religious poems and bhajans, due to which he had earned the title of 'kavi-ratn. MOST PROMINENT JAIN SAMAJ LEADERS A scheme was announced by Ahimsa Foundation through this newsletter, Ahimsa Times to honour prominent Jain Samaj Leaders in different fields, namely, industrialists, businessmen, professionals, authors, religious leaders/ activitists, scholars and institutions. Though the scheme is being regularly publicized every month in Ahimsa Times, very few nominations have been received so far. It is now to announce that the last date for the receipt of nominations has been fixed as 30th September, 2007. Those still wishing to send their nominations may do so well before this last date. 2007 PROMINENT JAIN SAMAJ LEADERS Ahimsa Foundation is instituting a process to annually honour the prominent members of Jain Community. The outstanding achievers will be categorized under the following themes. A. Most Prominent Jain Industrialists B. Most Prominent Jain Businessmen C. Most Prominent Jain Professionals D. Most Prominent Jain Authors E. Most Prominent Jain Religious Leaders / Activists F. Most Prominent Jain Scholars G. Most Prominent Jain Institutions To avoid any kind of controversy or biasness in the process of identification and nomination, the Trust will follow democratic approach. The individual responses (entries) will be examined and tabulated by independent panel of judges and the results will be made public through Ahimsa Times and web portal www.jainsamaj.org. This is first ever attempt to identify and honor the commendable personalities of the community at global level. We request our readers and all the other members of the society to actively participate in this project irrespective of the fact where they are located. The Foundation will also appreciate if the readers can circulate / forward information about this project to other community members, friends, relatives and also encourage them to submit their responses. Your valued cooperation and support will definitely help in best judgements. The information may please be submitted in the form given below or sent by post.
