Devchand Lalbhai Pustakodhar Fund, Series No. 4.
PREFACE.
This treatise is written by Ganadharas, the eleven foremost disciples of Lord Mahaveer' on the basis of what they heard from Him. Praticramanam fent is a sort of ceremony, the object of which is to fill the heart of the worshipper with repentance for the sins committed. They are five in kind, each of them differing from one another only in the length of time covering the sin to be atoned for. They are daily, (to be performed in the evening ) nightly, (to be performed in the morning) fort-nightly, four-monthly, and annual. In this volume the ceremony of the fort-nightly one is described, from the beginning to the end.
"Pakhkhi Sutra" is really speaking a collection of verses which are to be repeated while the ceremony is being per-formed, and that merely forms a part of this whole volume. But it is from that, that the volume is named "Pakhkhi Sutra."
