over the dreams. He ruminated over them in his mind and in the light of his inborn wisdom and acquired knowledge reflected on the nature of what they augured. Then he said to Devānanda :
के रूप में उसका रोम रोम पुलकित हो उठा । उसने उक्त स्वप्नों को स्मरण किया। स्मरण करके उनके फल के सम्बन्ध में वह विचार करने लगा। फल का विचार कर अपने स्वाभाविक विचारयुक्त बुद्धि-विज्ञान से इन स्वप्नों के अर्थ का उसने निश्चय किया। अर्थ का निश्चय करके वह देवानन्दा ब्राह्मणी से इस प्रकार बोला८. "हे देवानुप्रिये ! तुमने उदार स्वप्न देखे हैं। कल्याणरूप, शिवरूप, धन्य, मंगलमय और शोभायुक्त स्वप्न देखे हैं। तुमने प्रारोग्यकारक, संतोषदायक, दीर्घायुकारक, कल्याणकारक और मंगलकारी स्वप्नों को देखा है । हे देवानुप्रिये ! इन स्वप्नों का विशेष फल इस प्रकार हैहे देवानुप्रिये ! अर्थ-लक्ष्मी का लाभ होगा। हे देवानुप्रिये ! भोग का लाभ होगा। हे देवानुप्रिये ! पुत्र का लाभ होगा। हे देवानुप्रिये ! सुख का लाभ होगा। इस प्रकार निश्चय ही, हे देवानुप्रिये ! नव महीने और साढे सात रात-दिन व्यतीत होने पर, हाथ-पैरों से सुकुमाल, हीनतारहित और पांचों इन्द्रियों से परिपूर्ण शरीर वाले, शुभ लक्षण (स्वस्तिकादि चिह्न) एवं व्यंजन (तिल आदि) के गुणों से युक्त, मान, उन्मान एवं प्रमाण से युक्त सुगठित देह वाले, सर्वांग-सुन्दर, चन्द्र के समान सौम्य, मनोरम, प्रियदर्शी और स्वरूपवान्
8. “Truly, O beloved of gods, your dreams are benign and bountiful. They presage long life, good health, well-being and auspicious prosperity. They foretell a pleasant, enjoyable future, a life of
happiness. They also indicate the birth of a son. ___Nine months seven-and-a-half days from this day,
you will give birth to a son who will be radiantly beautiful like a godchild and eye-alluring like the tranquil moon. He will have shapely, attractive limbs, so proportioned as to have just the right measure of length, breadth and weight. His senses will be sharp and alert. He will have soft hands and soft feet and a physique devoid of any defect.
