यावत् वे तीन सौ वर्ष तक ग्रहवास में रहे। उसके पश्चात् । जीतकल्पी लोकान्तिक देवों ने आकर उनसे निवेदन किया, इत्यादि कथन पूर्ववत् कहना चाहिए । यावत् याचकों को दान दिया।
जब वर्षा ऋतु का प्रथम मास, दूसरा पखवाड़ा श्रावण शुक्ल चल रहा था तब उस श्रावण शुक्ल छठ के दिन पूर्वाह्न समय में, अर्हत् अरिष्टनेमि उत्तरकुरा नामक शिविका में बैठकर, देव, मानव और असुरों के समुदाय से परिवृत्त होकर, यावत् द्वारवती (द्वारिका) नगरी के बीचों-बीच होकर निकलते हैं। निकल कर जहां रैवतक नामक उद्यान है वहां आते हैं। वहां पाकर उत्तम अशोक वृक्ष के नीचे शिविका रखवाते हैं। रखवाकर शिविका से उतरते हैं। शिविका से उतर कर स्वयं हाथों से प्राभरण, माला और अलंकारों को उतारते हैं । स्वयमेव । अलंकारादिकों को उतारकर पंच मुष्टि लुंचन करते हैं। लोच कर, जल-रहित छद्रुभक्त (दो उपवास) किये हुए चित्रा नक्षत्र का योग आने पर, एक देवदूष्य वस्त्र ग्रहण कर, एक हजार पुरुषों के साथ
164. Arhat Aristanemi was a man of vision. He lived in his home for a period of three hundred years. Then, like the other Arhats, he gifted away all his possessions and went forth from his home on the litter called Uttarakura. He was hailed by the lokatinka gods. He went through the town of Dväravatl (i. e. Sauripura) followed by gods, men and demons. He journeyed to the park called Revataka and came to a great asoka tree. Here he alighted from his litter, shed all his finery, his garlands and his ornaments and plucking out bis hair in five handfuls, became an homeless mendicant in the company of a thousand others. He took to the practice of cating only one meal, without water, out of six regular meals. The moon was, at this time, in conjunction with the constellation citri.
