महत अरिष्टनेमि को जब वर्षा ऋतु का पहला मास, दूसरा पक्ष श्रावण शुक्ल चल रहा था तब उस धावण शुक्ला पंचमी के दिन नव मास परिपूर्ण होने पर, यावत चित्रा नक्षत्र का योग पाने पर आरोग्यवती शिवादेवी ने सुखपूर्वक पुत्र रूप में जन्म दिया। जन्म-वर्णन में पिता समुद्रविजय नामक, यावत् इस कुमार का नाम अरिष्टनेमि हो पर्यन्त समग्र वर्णन पूर्ववत् समझना चाहिए। १६४. अर्हत् अरिष्टनेमि दक्ष थे,

In those times, in that epoch, after spending a period of nine months seven-and-a-half days in the womb, Arhat Aristanemi was born during the first month of the rainy season, the month of Srāvana. The day was the fifth day of the second fortnight of the season, the bright fortnight of that month. The moon was in conjunction with the constellation citra. Both mother and child were in excellent health. At this place, let one repeat, with suitable substitutions, words which have been used to describe the events in Bhagavān Mahavira's life, till the event of giving the child a name. Arhat Aristanemi was named Kumāra Aristanemi.
