धारण किया- "जब तक मेरे माता-पिता जीवित रहेंगे तब तक में मूण्डित होकर, गहवास का त्याग कर प्रव्रज्या स्वीकार नहीं करूंगा।" ६२. उसके पश्चात् उस त्रिशला क्षत्रियारणी ने स्नान किया, बलिकर्म किया, कौतुक, मंगल तथा प्रायश्चित्त । कृत्य किया और समस्त अलंकारों से विभूषित हुई। वह गर्भ का पोपण करने लगी। उसने अत्यन्त शीत, अत्यन्त उष्ण, अत्यन्त तीक्ष्ण, अत्यन्त कटुक, अत्यन्त कसैले, अत्यन्त खट्टे, अत्यन्त मीठे, अत्यन्त स्निग्ध, अत्यन्त रूखे, [अत्यन्त गीले, अत्यन्त सूखे] भोजन का त्याग कर दिया। वह सब ऋतुओं के अनुकूल सुखकारी भोजन करती तथा वस्त्र, गन्ध और मालाओं को धारण करती हुई, रोग, शोक, मोह, भय और त्रास रहित होकर रहने लगी । वह उस गर्भ के पोषण के लिये देश और कालोचित हितकारी, परिमित पथ्यमय ग्राहार करती हुई, कोमल शय्या और प्रासन का उपयोग करती हुई, नितान्त सुखकर और मन के अनुकूल एकान्त-शान्त विहारभूमि में रहने लगी।
उसको गर्भ के प्रभाव से प्रशस्त दोहद (मनोरथ) उत्पन्न हुए। उन दोहदों को पूर्ण किया गया। उन दोहदों का सम्मान किया गया। उन दोहदों की उपेक्षा नहीं की गई। अभिलाषित मनोरथ पूर्ण हो जाने से नये दोहद उत्पन्न होने से रुक गये ।
92. Thenceforth, Trisali took her bath regularly, adorned herself with the best of ornaments, offered food to the family-deities and performed all the due rites of protection, propitiation and expiation. She ate food that was neither too warm nor too cold, neither too pungent nor too bitter, neither too astringent nor too sour or sweet, neither too oily nor too rough and neither too watery nor too dry. She took the right food in the right season, slept. on healthy couches and used good porfumes and garlands. She kept herself free from disease or worry and from delusions or nervous tension. She was careful to eat only what was beneficial, healthy and nourishing for her unborn child. She dwelt for his sake in quiet corners which were conducive to peace; she took her rest on pleasant, soft divans and beds, placed in secluded spots. The irrepressible desires (dohada) that arose in her heart during pregnancy were directed solely towards good things, and her desires were always respected and fulfilled. She was never once denied. Every single demand she made was met. None was ever refused. She lived rejoicingly,
