८७. अनन्तर श्रमण भगवान् महावीर मातृभक्ति से ( हलन चलन क्रिया से माता को कष्ट न हो इस दृष्टि से) गर्भ में निश्चल हो गए अर्थात् हलना-डुलना बन्द कर दिया, निस्पन्द हो गए, अकम्प हो गए और अपने गोपांगों को संकुचित कर लिया ।
८८. पश्चात् उस त्रिशला क्षत्रियाणी के मानस में इस प्रकार का संकल्प-विकल्प उत्पन्न हुआ कि "मेरा यह गर्भ हरण कर लिया गया है। मेरा यह गर्भ मर गया है। मेरा यह गर्भ च्युत (स्थान भ्रष्ट) हो गया है। मेरा यह गर्भ स्खलित हो गया है। मेरा यह गर्भ पहले हिलताडुलता था
87. Sramara Bhagavān Mahävira dwelled in the womb with such extreme stillness that he did not make the slightest movement or even a tremor. He remained without making his presence felt, as if he was not there at all. He did this out of compassion for his mother.
88. But Trisala became apprehensive and thought: "Has the child in my womb been destroyed? Has he been killed? Have I suffered a miscarriage? The child used to move, but now he does not move."
