हरण कर लिए हैं। ऐसा देखकर वह जागृत हुई । वे चौदह स्वप्न इस प्रकार हैं- हस्ति, वृषभ आदि । ३३. जिस रात्रि में श्रमण भगवान् महावीर जालन्धर गोत्रीया देवानन्दा ब्राह्मणी की कुक्षि से वाशिष्ठगोत्रीया त्रिशला क्षत्रियाणी की कुक्षि में गर्भरूप में स्थापित किये गये, उस रात्रि में वह त्रिशला क्षत्रियाणी निम्नोक्त प्रकार के अपने ग्रावास भवन में सो रही थी। उस वासगृह का अन्दर का भाग चित्रों से चित्रित था, वाहिर का भाग चुने आदि की घुटाई से चिकना व चमकदार बनाया हुआ था। ऊपर छत में अनेक प्रकार के चित्र चित्रित थे। मरिण और रत्नों की ज्योति से उस वासभवन का अंधकार नष्ट हो गया था । तलभाग - फर्श समतल और सुरचित था। उस फर्श पर पाँच वर्णों के सरस, सुगन्धित फूलों के गुच्छे जहाँ-तहाँ बिखरे हुए थे । वह शयनकक्ष कृष्णागरु उत्तम कुन्दरुक, तुरुष्क (सुगन्धित द्रव्य) आदि विविध प्रकार की जलती हुई धूपों से महक रहा था और धूपों से प्रकट होने वाली सुगन्धि से सुरभित हो रहा था । अन्य भी सुगन्धित पदार्थों से वह सुरभित था। गंधवटी ( गन्ध द्रव्य की गुटिका ) की तरह वह महक रहा था । ऐसे श्रेष्ठ शयनकक्ष में वह (त्रिशला ) उस प्रकार के पलंग पर सो रही थी,
33. That night Trisala was lying half asleep in her bed-chamber. The interior of her room was painted with murals. The exterior was stuccoed in white with a soft and bright finish. The floor and the ceiling had been given a variegated look through the inlay of gems and precious stones, and the glow from these shed lustre in the dark. The floor was smooth and even. The floor-space was elegantly apportioned. The room was adorned with lovely bunches of fragrant flowers in five different hues. It was saturated with the sweet, dense and overpowering perfume of the best incense: kālāguru, kundurukka and turuşka, which spread a thick fragrant smoke making the room a veritable incense-stick. The bed had a downy mattress (alinganaka) with pillow-cushions at both ends. It was raised at its two ends and was pronounc edly concave in the middle, and was soft and pliant like the sands on the beach of the Ganga. The bed was laid out with sheets of silk which were cool
