कुण्डग्राम नगर में ज्ञातवंशीय क्षत्रियों में काश्यपगोत्रीय । सिद्धार्थ क्षत्रिय की पत्नी वाशिष्ठ गोत्रीया त्रिशला क्षत्रियाणी की कुक्षि में मध्यरात्रि के समय हस्तोत्तराउत्तराफाल्गुनी नक्षत्र का योग आने पर, लेशमात्र भी बाधा-पीड़ा न हो, इस प्रकार सुखपूर्वक कुक्षि [गर्भरूप] में स्थापित किया। ३१. श्रमण भगवान् महावीर तीन ज्ञान से युक्त थे। 'मेरा यहां से संहरण होगा' ऐसा वे जानते थे। 'मेरा संहरण हो रहा है ऐसा वे नहीं जानते थे और 'मेरा संहरण हो गया है' ऐसा वे जानते थे। ३२. जिस रात्रि में श्रमण भगवान महावीर जालन्धर गोत्रीया देवानन्दा ब्राह्मणी की कुक्षि से (हटाकर) वाशिष्ठ गोत्रीया त्रिशला क्षत्रियाणी की कुक्षि में गर्भरूप में संस्थापित किये गये, उस रात्रि में शय्या पर अर्ध-निद्रावस्था में सोती हुई देवानन्दा ब्राह्मणी ने (स्वप्न में) देखा कि इसके स्वयं के देखेहए पूर्वोक्त प्रकार के उदार, कल्याणरूप, शिवरूप, धन्यरूप, मंगलरूप और शोभायुक्त चौदह स्वप्न त्रिशला क्षत्रियाणी ने
the previous night was just merging into the night following. Eighty-two days had passed since Sramana Bhagavān Mahavira had entered the womb of Devānanda, and this day was the cightythird. The month was that of Msvina, the third month of the rainy season. It was a dark fortnight, the fifth of that season. The day was the thirteenth day of the fortnight. The moon was in conjunction with the constellation uttaraphilguni. 32. On that night, at that moment, when Sramana Bhagavan Mahavira was carried from the womb of Devananda to that of Trišala, Trišalā saw the same wondrous and auspicious dreams that Devānanda had seen earlier. She saw an elephant, a bull, a lion, the annointment of Goddess Sri, a garland, the moon, the sun, a flag, an urn, a lotus-pond, the sea, a vimina, a heap of jewels and a fire.
