[777]
According to the measure of the scriptures, the spatial units (pradeśa) of the earth-bodied (pṛthivīkāyika) jīvas are innumerable. [561] The spatial units of the water-bodied (āpkāyika) jīvas are innumerable. [562] The spatial units of the fire-bodied (teukāyika) jīvas are innumerable. [563] The spatial units of the air-bodied (vāyukāyika) jīvas are innumerable. [564] The spatial units of the plant-bodied (vanaspati-kāyika) jīvas are infinite. [565] The spatial units of the mobile (trasa) jīvas are innumerable. [566]
The small and the great is of two kinds - the smallness and greatness of jīvas, and the smallness and greatness of spatial units. [567] The trasa jīvas are the smallest of all. [568] The teukāyika jīvas are innumerably greater. [569] The pṛthivīkāyika jīvas are specially greater. [570] The āpkāyika jīvas are specially greater. [571] The vāyukāyika jīvas are specially greater. [572] The vanaspati-kāyika jīvas are infinitely greater. [573]
