1. In the matter of the measure of substances, the number of gati-marganas (modes of existence) is [1, 2, 40].
2. In the five-sensed, tiryañc (animal) yonis (modes of existence), the number of mithyadṛṣṭi (wrong-believers) is innumerable (asaṃkhyāta) in terms of the measure of substances.
3. With respect to time, the five-sensed, tiryañc yoni mithyadṛṣṭi jīvas (living beings) are carried away by innumerable-innumerable (asaṃkhyātāsaṃkhyāta) avasarpiṇīs (descending phases) and utsarpiṇīs (ascending phases).
4. With respect to the domain (kṣetra), the five-sensed, tiryañc yoni mithyadṛṣṭis carry away the devāvahāra (time of the gods) by a number of times that is innumerable (asaṃkhyāta) times greater.
5. From the sāsādana-samyagdṛṣṭi (right-belief with partial realization) and up to the saṃjatāsaṃjatā (partially-restrained and partially-unrestrained), the five-sensed, tiryañc yoni jīvas are in the proportion of one part in the innumerable (asaṃkhyāta) parts of the ordinary tiryañc jīvas.
6. The five-sensed, tiryañc aparyāpta (incomplete) jīvas are innumerable (asaṃkhyāta) in terms of the measure of substances.
7. With respect to time, the aforementioned five-sensed, tiryañc aparyāpta jīvas are carried away by innumerable-innumerable (asaṃkhyātāsaṃkhyāta) avasarpiṇīs and utsarpiṇīs.
8. With respect to the domain (kṣetra), the five-sensed, tiryañc aparyāpta jīvas carry away (the time of the gods) by a number of times that is less than innumerable (asaṃkhyāta) times greater.
9. The mithyadṛṣṭi (wrong-believing) human beings are innumerable (asaṃkhyāta) in terms of the measure of substances.
