Lastly our self interest as Jains makes it as evident as it is urgent that we as a community stand to continue to prosper even to exist, under the ages of British supremacy over the unlet. tered forces that be supressed by law and government and that but for this check, can make only for anarchy, insecurity and chaos. As followers of Lord mahavira the greatest and most uncompromising apostle of Peace and harmlessness, it behoves us all every Jain man or woman to be prepared to help the cause of the Empire with body, mind and spirit. Jainas can volunteer their services as members of the Ambulance Corps; they can raise Subscriptions for the war funds, for the distressed by the war, they can offer or supply provisions and in various other ways can do their duty as citizens and Jainas in the tremendous crisis which has enveloped the Empire. Let us all pray for the success of the Imperial arms in the migty mahabharata of Europe. अंक १] M rimson clouds are thick and thundering over humanity. The great civilized christian. Europe is in the thrives of War. Satan is out. The war-hounds are brisk. Peace is driven into the back-woods. Anarchy grips the fair throat of Europe. The Mighty British Empire willy-milly is drawn into the scuffle. India is also affected, though at present most indirectly. The rulers and statesmen of the world are having anxious days and sleepless nights. The sudden, though not quite unforeshadowed, crisis is a mighty eye-opener. It has submerged peace, but not killed it. The redfury drama that is being acted by Europe in epoch-making. It is bound to change the map of Europe. It will alter the face of the great white continent as nothing has done since the brilliant and agitated era Napoleonic wars. In the unique situation which has arisen a word as to the duties of Jains can not be out of place. Law makes it their duty to do their level best, individually and collectively, to support and help the Empire. Anyone can be rightly proud of being a member of the great British Empire. National interests demand the preservation of British Connection with India: the political evolution. and schooling of the Indian democracy has barely begun and its continuance 1 89 Turning our glance more homewords, the Community is mourning the loss of three of its greatest leaders. The veteran Secretary and founder of the Mahasabha of course we mean Deputy Champat Rai of Cawnpore was the first to leave us after a long illness. Then followed the death of Danvir Jain Kulbhusan Sheth Maneckchand J. P. of Bombay.
