should posses the following characteristics to gain these powers. They are : (a) Intensive studies of scriptures, (b) Sefl-restraint (not necessary to be a monk or nun), (c) Vigilance, (d) Purity and less passionatencess.
In Jain scriptures, we come across a story of carya Sth labhadra. Under the guidance of carya Bhadrabahu he was learning the 14p. rvas on Nepal hills. Once he was meditating in the cave. He came to knew that his sisters are coming to meet him. He took the form of lion. His sisters, when entered the cave were frightened to see lion. They inquired it from a and came to know that it was non-else but her brother. In order to show off his knowledge he presented such miracle. This is called 'remissness' (pramada) in Jainism, As an atonement to this, a denied to impart further knowledge. This all emphasis that one should not take such forms or use such powers or skills to entertain or show miracles. This story represents that by intensive study of scripture one can attain these powers. Types of Labdhi
First of all we get round about 60 names of labdhi holder in pra navyakara a Strax va yaka Niryukti mentions 17 types of labdhi, while Vi e ava yaka Bha ya states 20 kind of labdhi. Though it states 20, but on the other hand, in the verse it also stated they are unlimited (aparimita). In the present paper some of the labdhis are explained in detail. During the study of various kinds of labdhis we come across some labdhis having more or less same peculiarity. On the basis of their peculiarities they can be classified from various points of views.
