શ્રી જૈન ભવે. કૅ, હેર, પ્રગટ કરી, જૈન તેમજ જૈનેતર વર્ગમાં ફેલાવવા તમે પ્રયત્ન કરશો તો જૈનકામની મોટી સેવા બજાવેલી ગણાશે. ભવિષ્યમાં આવા સારા લેખ “ હેરલ્ડ ” માં દાખલ થાય એવી પ્રવૃતિ થશે તે તમારા તંત્રીપણુનું સાર્થક થશે. મુંબઈ ૭–૧૧-૧૪.
જવેરી સાકરચંદ માણેકચંદ હેરલ્ડને પ્રથમ અંક વાંચતાં અતી આનંદ થયો છે. આપે બહુ સારો ઉદ્યમ કરેલ છે. શાસનસેવા સારી થઈ છે. હાલ જે પુસ્તક ( છેલ્લે પુરવણીનો અંક) આવ્યું • છે પણ પુસ્તક વ્યવસ્થાના કામમાં છું માટે અવસર મળશે ત્યારે વંચાશે પણ આપને ઉદ્યમ સ્તુતિપાત્ર છે. ધર્મોન્નતિમાં વધારો કરી પત્રદ્વારા આનંદ આપશે.

It has given me immense delight to see that your graduates are now seriously investigating their religion and coordinating it to modern conditions.
Your own articles have been very interesting to me. You have taken great pains in compiling them. The presentation is very attractive and impressive. You command a very forci. ble, entrancing, fluent style. As a non-Jain I very often have to stumble at the Jain terminology scattered broadeast in your contributions.
There are certain points in your bistorical review of Mahavir's age, to which I take objection. But they can be better discussed only when we meet personally.
I feel that Jain chronology should be adjusted not from Mahavir downwards but from to-day upwards. The former attempt will encounter many showls and pitfalls. We must trace Jain History with the help of inscriptions, coins, documents and literary records.
