II . Dear Brother Desai,
Indore 12—-18
As to Sikharji it is a shame that the Jainas are eager to make a uon-Jaina owner of our Hill. I ask you and throgh you, my brother Makanji J. Mehta & other enlightened friends what will be the result of estoppel on our rights for ever, if we acccpt even a lease in perpetuity from R:je of Palganj ? Our progeny can never claim the hill as their owu. The lessees may be troubled or even turned out on some pretext or other. You know my personal feelings. I am an universal Jaiva; my brotherhood extends to birds & beasts and to: English; Jainas or TRUTH is my brother, in whatever disguise he comes to me. I think both Svetambaras & Digambaras should be firmly united at once that the patta must be by Raja as lessee to look after Jaina Hill & to get an annual sun or lump sum for his time and trouble. On no other term we should accept any patta &c. As to the extent & character of the rights of Svetambaras & Digambaras inter se, let them settle peacefully; if not, let them fight for 50 years, but they and none else should oun the Hill. As to the modus operandi the leaders can put their heads to gother and ono can soon be found; But now or nover. „We must be perfectly deformined that we (Jainas ) are the owners of the Hill, and none else is. Any flaw or delay in this resolution means speedy spiritual strangulation. If necessary you can print and publish this in all languages as a last warning to my lamentably decaying brethren both Swetambaras and Digambaras who are misled by selfish men and narrow passions. In the namo of Lord Vira,
Yours affectionately.
J. L. JAINI.
